Hi all, wave Groove here. I would like to share to all of you the process of how I make my beats/records. I usually don't have an outlet to share my process and would like to give you an idea on where I come from as a musician and how I manage to create the products I make.
I first start off with making beats, and alot of them at that. Usually I make 15 second beats just to get a feel of the main vibes that I create on the canvas (ableton). I would probably say I made at least 20-30 of these 15 second beats within the time span of the beginning of the year to present time in March. These beats would vary from trip hop styles, to more downtempo dark vibes, to maybe some footwork if I'm feeling it. When I make the beats I don't over think things and I clear my head of anything, but music.
After I choose two from the pile that feel the same, I would then pursue a release. As you have noticed i've been only making releases that only have two songs on them. To me they are singles, every one of them. This format gives me the time and energy to put the utmost quality work I can on each one. toward the end of creating the songs I would stem them out and send them to be mixed through my other machine (Mac Book - and yes I make all my beats on a Windows 7 Machine just to prove you that it doesn't fucking matter what you make things on, just make what you feel is right to you.) I would then mix my music on PT and then get the .wavs to be put on another PT session to be mastered to proper levels.
Considering how much I put into each one of the completed songs, I am very proud of what I've made so far this year. I would love to continue to share my songs with all of you, and VSR is my gateway to you all. Over the years, I've realized there are others who are better than me as if this was a competition, but I always want to strive to become better for my own soul and memories.
The other day, I lost at the Beat Cinema Beat Battle by a few ranks (I made top 5 from 20 contestants) - this was the opportunity for me to preview my latest beats - I got to play three of my creations to some of the people I look up to in the game. It was a huge honor to do it. I just hope one day I will be able to showcase my next piece 'Modular Sessions' someday, but if it doesn't happen, you know i'll just do a live show here on VSR again.
